The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) is a 12-item self-report measure designed to assess an individual's perceived adequacy of social support from three sources: family, friends, and significant others. Each source is evaluated through a separate four-item subscale. The measure focuses on the individual's subjective perception of available support rather than the amount of support actually received. It is commonly used in clinical and research settings to evaluate perceived social support and its relationship with psychological well-being.
