Details

The Child and Adolescent Trauma Screen (CATS) is a brief, DSM-5-based screening measure designed to assess exposure to potentially traumatic events and symptoms of posttraumatic stress in children and adolescents ages 7–17. The self-report form includes 15 items assessing potentially traumatic events, 20 items assessing posttraumatic stress symptoms, and 5 items assessing functional impairment. It can be used to identify trauma-related symptoms, support clinical assessment, and monitor symptoms over time. The CATS is a screening instrument and is not, by itself, sufficient to establish a PTSD diagnosis.
