Details

The Child and Adolescent Trauma Screen–Caregiver (CATS-C) for ages 7–17 is a caregiver-report screening measure designed to assess a child’s exposure to potentially traumatic events and posttraumatic stress symptoms. It includes items assessing traumatic experiences, 20 posttraumatic stress symptoms corresponding to DSM-5 PTSD criteria, and 5 items assessing functional impairment. It provides an adult observer’s perspective on the child’s symptoms and functioning and can complement the child’s self-report. The measure is intended for screening and symptom monitoring, not as a stand-alone diagnostic assessment.
